Our Country Living Story

Hello Friends, Our family story began with one of us being born in the city in Eastern Europe, the other being born in a giant city in Asia, then before we could each make individual decisions, our parents moved to the Southern California area, where we met and wed in 1992. I have been born in an Adventist family, while my wife has never heard of Adventism before we met and she was sure there weren’t any in the San Diego area where she grew up.

After we got married, we continued to attend local SDA church but not really being involved, instead we were enjoying life, both having good paying jobs that allowed us to travel extensively throughout 4 continents and over 40 countries. Even though it was just the two of us, we nonetheless had a giant two story home, quite a few cars, motorcycles, boat and we thought we were entitled to them all since we worked hard and we thought we were enjoying them all. My father gave us a complete set of the Testimonies back in 1992 that remained unopened and in their original packaging until 2007, when we started thumbing thru them. One book led to another, then the Booklet of Country Living fell in our hands somehow, so without going into more details, we decided to get out of the rat-race and move out to the country. Due to a few other circumstances, we were brought again to Costa Rica, this time for a definitive move out in the country.

The problem with all this? Well, we didn’t know the first thing about planting anything, nothing about producing electricity, nothing about gardening tools or even their proper names, nothing about being water independent. Nothing, NADA. Normally people would have more common sense and would have gone into this a little bit at a time, whereas we jumped in totally at one time. Not sure if this was God’s will, but in His wisdom He used our lack of knowledge for His glory! Well, God did have plans for us, and indeed we needed a serious cramming session in learning how to live out in the country, as we acquired a property without any buildings, without electricity or city water connected to it! Although, the property we were led to did and does have many streams and springs.

To make the story short, we built a small home, a couple of guest cabins, set up our own electricity, (mini-hydro electric, solar and wind) water and started planting all organic greens, many fruit trees and such. We found out there are many people in a similar circumstance where they would like to leave the city, but don’t know how to and where to start, what to expect, what to look for and don’t know much about country living in general. So, that’s when God led us to open up crcountryliving.com, so please come visit us on the web or in person, where you get to taste, smell, breathe, touch, see and experience country living first hand for a few days, or a few weeks, where you can start appreciating the simple life and where we could share some classes and workshops on alternative electricity, agriculture, home remedies, the 8 laws of health and a few other things. Welcome to Costa Rica Country Living.

May the Lord Bless each one of us, and guide each one of us in our walk with Him as we do indeed heed the words He has spoken to each one of us for our own good!  You can contact us at: crcountryliving@yahoo.com

“In our day the Lord desires that His people shall be dispersed throughout the earth. They are not to colonize. Jesus said, ‘Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.’ Mark 16:15. When the disciples followed their inclination to remain in large numbers in Jerusalem, persecution was permitted to come upon them, and they were scattered to all parts of the inhabited world.
For years messages of warning and entreaty have been coming to our people, urging them to go forth into the Master’s great harvest-field, and labor unselfishly for souls.”
